This piece was inspired by 'Reaction - Diffusion systems', which are mathematical models used primarily to describe the change in concentration of chemical substances across space and time during chemical reactions. The patterns created during these processes are beautiful and intricate - a true marvel of nature. They are often referred to as 'Turing Patterns' after the brilliant mathematician Alan Turing, who introduced the concept in his 1952 paper titled 'The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis'.
The painting is the first in what I am sure will be a long and varied exploration of such patterns in nature.
